Prejudices explores the subtle yet powerful ways in which biases shape perception—quietly, persistently, and often beyond conscious awareness. Situated between the personal and the political, the intimate and the collective, prejudices influence how we interpret others and construct ideas of belonging, difference, and exclusion.
The exhibition unfolds at Pekarna in Maribor, a cultural site marked by its own history of marginalization, resistance, and continuity. Within this context, prejudice is not only a thematic concern, but something embedded in the very fabric of the space. It is approached both as an internalized process and as a shared social construct—one that frames realities while remaining open to disruption and transformation.
Rather than offering resolution, the works presented engage with these tensions, inviting viewers into an active role. They become both observers and participants, implicated in the very mechanisms the exhibition seeks to reveal.
